HOW DID FUNDACIÓN ASHA-KIRAN, HOME FOR CHILDREN ARISE?

Asha-Kiran (Ray of Hope, in Hindi) was born out of a "personal need for trans-personal action" in its founders, and took shape after Uttam Módenes had received countless petitions from people during his many trips to India to aid them in improving their living conditions.

Once it became evident that it would be impossible to launch actions of true and sustained support without a modicum of infrastructure, Uttam and Paloma Sousa (Hansa) decided to create Fundación Asha-Kiran in Spain and Asha-Kiran Shelters Foundation in India, recipient of the funds raised in Spain.

After studying on the spot the possible Intervention Projects, it was decided to begin by creating the Day Care Centers and Yashodhara Shelter Home with the aim of promoting 'spaces' where vulnerable children can be offered day-to-day support, in the case of the Day Care Centers, and where street children can be taken in, in the case of Yashodhara Shelter, and which provide a stable direction to their lives and respect to their rights, as set forth in the Convention of the Rights of the Child, of the UN.
